A Poem About God's Glory
by Chris Challen
Encombe Light
silence floats up from the valley on the lambs bleat trees tumble to woods blow upside down sky with sun pierced shafts splashing into the distant sea golden glow sky lit by dagger light pours from the golden love constrained above his head where the green hills slip to small boat travelling east with solemn speed the round mound sitting on the green beach of earth our lovely land the mothers golden wedded head bobbing between great green lands our pasture for ever and ever above and behind my being listens to the lambs sea sun and sky revealing light bounding hills and mountains growing his blue eyes pierce the sky blessing the lamb where his seed grows in endless time time awaiting ever conceptual watching slowly as forever but in the hour of his bower he takes a shining plume from his starry heavens and sets it in view of our wandering eyes to dazzle even the most perfect angel flower with a light so bright none can see from mortal view nor bear its weight distance and moreverness invincible to death and unimaginable glory light his head afire with suns aglow a billion years our words a bleating of furry terms not meaning words a tangle as they strangle for expression the scene before me is so holy indescribable by mortal means the sky shrieks and your silent golden eye speaks your dark tones of silence to me while i am standing on this earthy shore pounded by unremitting waves silently roaring into the sea how everything falls silent as we pass above the sea i bring you flowers burnt by the golden glowing at the dying of the night the sky echoes to his glory glory amen
