Books on mind body medicine often do not quote the scientific sources. Here I list some health books written by scientists and drawing on research statistics. Proof of the mind body connection.
If you are someone who is not yet convinced by the connection between thoughts and health, these mind body books may be of great interest to you.
The more we have belief that this connection exists, the greater our motivation to do the mind body experiment for ourselves.
I have not read the following books. They have been recommended to me. Since writing this page I have come across
the books of David Hamilton.
David Hamilton is a Scottish scientist, turned ardent researcher of the mind body connection. I have heard him speak and read and recommend his book, How Your Mind Can Heal Your Body.
“The Biology of Belief is a groundbreaking work in the field of New Biology. Author Dr. Bruce Lipton is a former medical school professor and research scientist. His experiments, and that of other leading edge scientists, have examined in great detail the processes by which cells receive information.
The implications of this research radically change our understanding of life. It shows that genes and DNA do not control our biology; that instead DNA is controlled by signals from outside the cell, including the energetic messages emanating from our positive and negative thoughts.
Dr. Lipton’s profoundly hopeful synthesis of the latest and best research in cell biology and quantum physics is being hailed as a major breakthrough showing that our bodies can be changed as we retrain our thinking.”

This New York Times number one best-seller presents the medical evidence showing that living, loving, and working by the Hawaiian wisdom of aloha results in healthier and happier personal, family, and work life. It presents a program for correcting "DDDS, " Daily Delight Deficiency Syndrome."
This New York Times Number 1 best-seller won the Lambert Book of the Year Award in London, England. It was the first book to describe how our feelings and thoughts affect our immune system, how "hot" and "cold" temperaments tend to influence our health and healing, and how to enhance the immune system to strengthen our resistance to disease and improve our healing.
“Presents the scientific evidence that the heart literally thinks, remembers, speaks to the brain about its own unique feelings, and connects with other hearts. It presents evidence of cellular memory and that some heart transplant recipients report receiving memories and personality characteristics of their donor.
The importance of living, loving, and working from the heart is documented.”
“... the story of a wife... a NIH lecturer... a scientist... a mother... and an AIDS researcher.
Do you want to know why we feel the way we feel? Are you curious how your thoughts and emotions can influence your health? Does our brain work apart from the body? Or they all part of one big system?
Dr Candace Pert has spent most of her life studying chemicals and how they work in our bodies. By establishing a biomedical basis for emotion, and explaining how our feelings, emotions, and bodies are connected -- through our mind -- we can begin to understand our lives like never before.”
Candace Pert is renowned in the field of mind body medicine. She has published over 250 scientific articles on peptides and their receptors and the role of these neuropeptides in the immune system.
Dr. John E. Sarno's Healing Back Pain is a New York Times bestseller that has helped over 500,000 readers. Continuing the research since his groundbreaking book, the renowned physician now presents his most complete work yet on the vital connection between mental and bodily health, The Mindbody Prescription.
Musculoskeletal pain disorders have reached epidemic proportions in the United States, with most doctors failing to recognize their underlying cause.
In this acclaimed volume, Dr. Sarno reveals how many painful conditions--including most neck and back pain, migraine, repetitive stress injuries, whiplash, and tendonitises--are rooted in repressed emotions . . . and shows how they can be successfully treated without drugs, physical measures, or surgery. His innovative program has already produced gratifying results for thousands of patients.
The Mindbody Prescription is your invaluable key to a healthy and pain-free life.
To be clear, I am unsure if the emphasis in this book is on Dr John E Sarno presenting his research into mind body medicine, or outlining the program. Either way, he is a qualified Doctor, and the book comes highly recommended by a friend of mine.

original music performed and sung by the hula halau that often join him in his lecture/concerts.
a Pleasure Planner workbook. This has been a very popular tape series for many years.”
I love the sound of “overcoming health terrorism”. When looking into mind body medicine there is a risk that we start to give ourselves a hard time for being ill. After all, if we thought the right thoughts we would be OK, wouldn’t we?
This kind of thinking really doesn't help us. I am guessing that Paul Pearsall addresses this problem and helps us to be more compassionate with ourselves.
One of the roles of this website is to provide an income to allow me to finish, edit and share the books I have written over the years.
If you plan to buy any of the mind body medicine books above, it would be great if you could buy them by clicking through from my site. The price for you is the same, and I receive a commission.
Either way, I hope these mind body books are of interest.
