Motivational Poems – 2. Why Change? Why Learn?
...Previous Page: Motivational Poems: Learning Can Be Fun
It’s OK to set out to learn something without being clear about why you are making the effort. This one of the motivational poems asks the question Why? Why do you want to learn this new thing? “Why?” is a very important question to ask ourselves. It may sound obvious, but to learn something is to place ourselves in a situation where we do not know something, and where we are not very good at something. This can feel uncomfortable. In the times when we feel like giving up, it is important to remember why we are setting out to learn this. Then we can find the motivation to continue. (Or we can decide to give up.) And be sure it is the reason why YOU want to learn this new skill, not the reason someone else wants you to learn. Why Should I Be The One To Change? Why should I be the one to change?
Because you are the one in the greatest pain. Because you are the one with the greatest ability to change. Give yourself sympathy. Give yourself credit. And take the next step you need to take. Besides, Is it your idea of exciting to stay the same way all your life?
Well done for being willing to change in order to stop causing pain to yourself or someone else.
“The ego's plan for salvation centers around holding grievances. It maintains that, if someone else spoke or acted differently, if some external circumstance or event were changed, you would be saved. Thus, the source of salvation is constantly perceived as outside yourself. ...The change of mind necessary for salvation is thus demanded of everyone and everything except yourself.” (W-71.2, A Course In Miracles)
