Be of service to God poem

by Kevin Mast
(Logansport, IN)

This spiritual poem is inspired by the bible quote from Isaiah 50:4 "The Sovereign Lord has given me an instructed tongue to know the words that sustained the weary"

This poem opened up my ability to hear God's voice to give other people God ordained encouragement. I pray that I will encourage other people with this powerful prayer to be of service to God.

Equip Me Lord

Lord, I seek Your face.
As I come boldly to Your throne of grace.
There is an area in my life where I am lacking.
In order to be a better person, I need your backing.

You see, it is Your thoughts I want to know.
Without hearing them I cannot do your will, this is so.
I don't only want to do what I want to do.
I want to conform myself to the new creation that comes from you.

Not only to become a better person, but to give to others Your words of insight.
I want to point people towards Your light.
I must hear Your voice and not just give my opinion.
My words must come from Your heart, so they can have dominion.

Dominion over what oppresses someone
so they can be set free and turned into a gem.
Lord I want to be used by You.
Because when I am not doing Your heart’s desire, I am blue.

Right now, I admit my spiritual deafness to Your will.
Helping other people out more effectively would be a thrill.
I know I could do so much more.
If I had a word from You, I could comfort and get to a bleeding heart's core.

All I want to do is make the world a better place.
God consider my case.
Increase fellowshipping with me and speaking to me.
Not only for me, but for others you can help through me.

A Prayer Poem for Divine Guidance

by Robert Gresak
(South Africa)

DISCERNMENT

Divine God-self within let me truly discern
and in that begin to turn
from the lower to the higher.

Divine God-self within let me truly discern
and in that begin to learn
of the lower being subservient to the higher.

Divine God-self within let me truly discern
and in that begin to burn
away all that is not of thee.

Divine God-self within let me truly discern
what is truth and non-truth
and thereby to earn
the blessed wisdom of truly knowing
even as I am known.

I really love this one, Robert. Thank you.

I would slightly query the use of the word "earn" in the last stanza.
This poem speaks of such surrender, such giving up of our own self-concepts and plans. I suspect you will agree that no matter how much work we do to spiritually surrender and let God decide for us, it always feels like a free gift when wisdom is received. But then hard to make that scan and rhyme with discern!

It has done me good to read and breathe these words.

Without God I am nothing.

With thanks,
Katherine

Teach Me Father

Job 8;9 For we are but of yesterday and know nothing because our days on Earth are as a shadow.

Teach me Father and I will be quiet.
Teach me for your ways are life.
Teach me Father that I may understand.
Teach me so that I may be a better man.
Teach me Father to learn from my mistakes.
Teach me for your instructions I will gladly wait.
Teach me Lord for I am but a fool and I have broken the rules.

Teach me Father for I am low.
Teach me please. I wish to know.
Teach me so when I die my soul might rise above.
Teach me Father so I may feel your love.
Teach me Father so I may stand upright no matter what comes my way.
Teach me oh Lord every minute of every day for the rest of my days.

"One thing that struck me was the stripping of ego in the work. Most of us have a comfy ego façade, but weakness and disease tore Katherine’s away. The poems in Be Loved Beloved come from the heart."
