Book Title:

Returning – a woman’s midlife journey to herself

Jesus said, “This is how it is with the kingdom of God; it is as if a man were to scatter seed on the land and sleep and rise night and day and the seed would sprout and grow, he knows not how. Of its own accord the land yields fruit, fir the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. And when the grain is ripe, he wields the sickle at once, for the harvest has come.” Mark 4: 26-29

The Seed Within

Within each and every one of us, there is a seed waiting to be born. The seed is that of our Divine potential – the uniquely gifted person that God created us to be. It is through this unique gift that we become vessels of God’s love in the world.

In coming to know this gift and in allowing this gift to be born, we are returning to the person God created us to be, returning to our truest self and returning to our highest nature. When we nurture this gift, allow it to mature and share it in the world, we know peace, joy and love; and we experience a deep sense of fulfillment. We grow through the use of our gift, and others along with us, and God’s plan of co-creation is fulfilled.

For many, especially women, the drive to birth our gifts into the world is awakened at midlife and more than anything else, the process of birthing ourselves is a spiritual journey.

Women And Spirituality
Birthing Ourselves

Psychology, counseling and doctors' offices are full of women between the ages of 30 and 70 who are looking for relief of symptoms associated with midlife, perimenopause and menopause: anxiety, depression, panic, hot flashes, death chills, tremors, headaches, belly aches, body aches and mood swings.
Often (but fortunately not always) the Western medical system's response to these symptoms of midlife is to diagnose, medicate and operate.

What we have forgotten is that midlife IS NOT a pathology. Instead, what these symptoms are letting us know is that something VERY RIGHT is happening - something that promises to bring us something incredibly wonderful. Midlife is the spiritual process that brings us to us OURSELF! Once childbearing is complete, the hormones in our bodies shift from their focus on birthing babies to the very sacred and spiritual process of BIRTHING OURSELVES.

a truth to encourage others
by: Norma

Everything I read in this blog I was able to embrace fully. My own awakening came in 1983 at the age of 37 (midlife)
My spiritual writings began to come through at that time. I attribute it all to the Holy Spirit and at the same time recognize that it was my time to awaken.
Read 'A GOD CHILD BATTLE' in the Christian section of this website. Also 'Faraway Child.'

Many of my writings included reference to 'self'
and were often misunderstood. Some people thought that the reference to self was a contradiction to spiritual/religious teachings.

The ego self is a contradiction.
The innate self, the quest to find it, and the process of accepting it and allowing it a voice in this world is our purpose here, to be who God intended us to be.
I've come to see the ego self as a shell around a nut. The nut is protected by this shell until the time is ripe. The innate self is the nut.
The shell thinks its all about 'it' the nut knows its all about God.
There is a battle!
I loved reading this blog and am encouraged knowing that others know. As an observer I have seen a lot of awakening around lately. AMEN.

"One thing that struck me was the stripping of ego in the work. Most of us have a comfy ego façade, but weakness and disease tore Katherine’s away. The poems in Be Loved Beloved come from the heart."
