Does God Love Me When I'm Struggling?

In Christianity we have God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Holy Trinity.

I will look at the question: "Does God Love Me When I’m Struggling?"   in respect to each part of the trinity.

A God beyond suffering

Father God

I see "Father God" as eternal, unchanging Love.

Father God does not understand our problems because ultimately they are nothing.
God, Love continues regardless.

This is a non dual Christian perspective. Father God as the aspect of God untouched by human pain.

This may not sound like a comforting belief. But in my own experience it has led me into moments of joy and a more intimate experience of God's Love.

Does God the father care? Yes. But it is a care that has no worry.

God does not worry that we will not awaken to truth.

God has set it up that we left only in illusion. God is the I AM. 

In this world caring often looks like worry.

More and more I feel the benefit of a relationship with a God who has confidence in my eternal safety.

I have often felt far from safe, and find this a great comfort.

God the Son

Then there is God the Son.

Jesus, represents for me one who knows our pain because he lived a human life. But he has returned to Oneness, to the right hand of the father.

I believe Jesus is now beyond suffering - beyond his suffering and beyond our own.

I believe that Jesus' too has total confidence that we will follow him and return. 

Jesus is "the firstborn of many brethren" and the rest of us will follow.

He too in a sense stands beyond our pain, calling us to wake up to knowledge of our own Christ self.

This aim of waking up to one's Christ self is a Christ consciousness perspective.

From a place of understanding, Jesus holds a place for us to reach out our hand to him so he can lift us into "the peace that passes understanding"– the peace of a God whose knowing of Love is so vast and so complete that our problems cannot trouble him/her.

Just as Jesus prayed for Peter, Jesus prays for me. How can his prayer not be answered?

God the Holy Spirit

There there is God the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit can be called on at any point and bridges this world of lack and the perfect world of God's kingdom.

We judge someone's care by their availability to help. The Holy Spirit is ever available.

In the form of the Holy Spirit, does God love me when Im struggling? Yes.

Would you give up a God who understands your pain

When we ask "does God love me when I’m struggling?", we are sometimes asking,
"God are you here?
Are you available?
Can I call on you?
Can you help?

The answer to all of these is yes.

We can call on God the Father, God the Son - our Christ Self, and God the Holy Spirit. In this sense, God cares. 

We have a human need to be understood, and perhaps we confuse this with the need to be cared about. It can be useful to separate the two.

Would you give up a God who understands your pain in exchange for a God who feels no pain?
A God you can never hurt?
A God who has no vulnerability and is therefore always strong for you?

This is the God we have.

Try asking God 'How are you?'

One way I have found to access and cultivate the sense that God cares about me is to care about God.

As humans, we are creatures of relationship. One of the ways we show care for another is to ask how they are.

I have invited others to do this exercise, and it isn’t meaningful to everyone. Give it a try, and see how it works for you.

When I feel troubled and I remember to stop and ask God, ‘How are you?’ I am filled with joy.

God is Joy and God is joyful.

For a moment this connection with Joy may even take me out of my chattering, distressed mind.

When I ask God, ‘How are you?’, I am happy that God is untouched by my suffering, by any mistake I make, or by any mistake another person makes in their behaviour towards me.

I am reminded that my problem is not as big as it feels.
My problem cannot diminish God’s joy, and God’s joy continues to be available to me.

This undiminished Joy and Love is the rock on which I build my house.

In a moment when I pause in my struggle and care for God the question, does God love me when Im struggling? is answered with the experience of 'Yes'.

It's normal and good to ask “Does God love me when Im struggling?”

Asking “Does God love me when I’m struggling?” is a question we ask in a time of suffering.

I believe it's fine and good to ask. 

We can ask it and leave times of silence to receive the answer.

The psalms are full of those feeling forsaken and neglected by God. They are addressing their complaints to God and so their complaint and their openness to a reply feeds the relationship.
