The hymn prayers are easy to learn. When I was bedbound, these words came to me and fed my spirituality through my relationship with Spirit. I hope they bless you.

Taize Latin chants serve as powerful prayer to the Holy Spirit

There are many Taize chants which serve as powerful prayers to the Holy Spirit.

When sung in Latin the chant feels especially sacred and powerful to me. Maybe it's the Catholic in me :-)

The repetition and the simplicity of the chant invite in the Holy Spirit, and take you beyond the words to rest in God.

Jesus and the Holy Spirit

“Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout.
He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him.
It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah.
Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts.
When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:

“Sovereign Lord, as you have promised,
you may now dismiss your servant in peace.
For my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared in the sight of all nations:
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and the glory of your people Israel.”

Powerful prayer to the Holy Spirit as the bringer of truth

“I [Jesus] have much more to say to you,
more than you can now bear.
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes,
he will guide you into all the truth.
He will not speak on his own;
he will speak only what he hears,
and he will tell you what is yet to come.
He will glorify me
because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.
All that belongs to the Father is mine.

Powerful pentecost prayer to the Holy Spirit

“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.

They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.

While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message.
The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles.
For they heard them speaking in other languages and praising God.

Then Peter said, “Surely no one can stand in the way of their being baptized with water.
They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.” So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.”

Holy Spirit in the Letters of St Paul

“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,
he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.
He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,
so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.”
