No one can tell you how to believe in God as no one can force a belief upon you.

If you are reading this article because you want to believe in God, then perhaps you are having a crisis of faith, possibly due to difficult life circumstances. Perhaps you have lost your faith but would like to get it back.
Or perhaps you have never had belief in God but have always had a sense that there is something more than this physical world.

Engaging in a spiritual practice is a great way to learn how to believe in God.
With practice comes experience of God – this could be an experience
of peace, joy or homecoming or a sense of something other than this world.
With
experience comes belief.
There are many spiritual practices. I talk about a number of them on this website.
If you are setting out to know how to believe in God, choose a spiritual practice and make a commitment to that practice.
Set yourself a time period for which you will engage with that practice in order to gie it a chance to bear fruit.
If you wanted to learn a subject you might find other people
who had the same interest.
In the same way you might choose to spend time in a spiritual community.
Discussions about your faith can help to keep you motivated as can the enjoyment of the companionship of new friends.
Be careful though. Are you exploring belief in God at this time, because you are experiencing difficult life circumstances? If so you may be vulnerable to people imposing their beliefs on you. Choose a group that will not pressure you to believe what they believe.
If you wanted to learn a subject you might find a teacher and take a class.
You might find a spiritual teacher by attending a church, mosque, synagogue, temple, or a spiritual group.
You might use DVDs or videos and follow someone online who keeps you motivated to keep going with your spiritual practice.
In the UK, where I live, I am unlikely to hear the word 'God' on the radio or on the television in the course of the day, unless I actively seek out radio or television programs on faith.
If you are living in the world without hearing spiritual language, you are feeding on the belief that the world is the only reality there is.
If you are setting out to know how to believe in God you will need to actively expose yourself to a spiritual belief system so it has a chance to compete with the secular belief system that there is no God.
We are brainwashed with beliefs from an early age.
Some of us are brainwashed with belief in God.
Other people are brainwashed with belief that the physical world is the only reality.
Either way, at some point in your adulthood you may choose to assess the beliefs you were given.
If you realise you have just taken on spiritual beliefs without question it may lead to a crisis of faith.
But as you drop the belief in God that has been given to you, you may find you develop a far deeper belief in God that comes out of the spiritual practice in which you engage.
In my spiritual journey I have become totally convinced of the reality of God, so my belief in God is strong.
I experience a Source of Love and Peace that lies behind all things and which is more real than the world we witness with our eyes.
There truly are many different paths to take in how to believe in God.
Many blessings to you as you walk your path.
