This article shares spiritual self worth quotes, drawing from the Bible.
Many religions and spiritual paths speak of humility and repentance. But in the Bible there are many who stand before God trusting that their lives matter and their spirits are worthy of divine care.
In terms of the spiritual journey, self-worth is Self worth– identification with a self larger than ourselves– the Self that remains at one with God. I call this the Free Self.
In different language, you could say that self worth comes from allowing God to work through you. God is worthy, and in the moments when you know you are part of God, you share that worth.
As the branches of a vine share in the vine's access to the resources it draws through its roots, so our sharing in God’s identity allows us to claim an inherent worth.
In terms of the world we can try to earn self-worth by being different, being special, working hard, acquiring new skills, becoming famous. But all of those can be threatened by illness, and ultimately by death.
When we cultivate the spiritual Self worth we share with God, we are finding a worth that we share with everyone, and which lasts for eternity.
In our connection with God we are worthy by family and by association.
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God…” (1 John 3:2, KJV)
“Let them praise the name of the LORD:
for his name alone is excellent;
his glory is above the earth and heaven.”
(Psalm 148:13, KJV)
When we try to earn our worth and have pride in being better than, we lose access to our intrinsic worth.
“Though the Lord be high, yet hath He respect unto the lowly: but the proud He knoweth afar off.” (Psalm 138:6, KJV)
“Where is boasting then? It is excluded.
By
what law? of works?
Nay: but by the law of faith.
Therefore we conclude that a man is
justified by faith without the deeds of the law.” (Romans 3:27-28, KJV)
Dear God, work through us.
Let us know our worth in You.
I am willing to be seen by you.
I am willing to see myself as you see me.
AMEN
“And the Lord said to Joshua,
“Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel,
so that they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses...
That day the Lord exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel;
and they revered him all the days of his life,
just as they had revered Moses.” (Joshua
3:7,14, NIV)
St Paul:
“Being confident of this, that he
who began a good work in you
will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
(Philippians 1:6, NIV)
I am accepted as I am.
God is a good private tutor
who will guide me step by step
to what I need to know.
God I am showing up.
Please guide me. AMEN
St Paul:
“Therefore, the promise
comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s
offspring– not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of
the faith of Abraham.” (Romans 4:16, NIV)
“Then Peter began to speak:
“I now realise how true it is that God does not show favouritism
but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right.” (Acts
10:34-35, NIV)
“But Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites
out of Egypt?”
And God said, “I will be with you.” (Exodus 3:11-12, NIV)
Christ speaks to Paul on the road to Damascus.
“‘Now get up and stand on your feet.
I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you
have seen of me and what I will show you.
I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles.
I am sending you to them
to open their eyes and turn them
from darkness to light,
and from the power of
Satan to God,
so that they may receive forgiveness of sins
and a place among
those who are sanctified by faith in me.’”
(Acts
26:16-18, NIV)
"Keep me as the apple of your eye;
hide me in the
shadow of your wings." (Psalm 17:8, NIV)
"For this is what the Lord Almighty says:
‘After the
Glorious One has sent me against the nations that have plundered you—for
whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye.’" (Zechariah 2:8, NIV)
"In a desert land he found him,
in a barren and howling
waste.
He shielded him and cared for him;
he guarded him as the apple of his
eye."
(Deuteronomy 32:10, NIV)
A call to open oneself to divine presence — dignity restored.
“Lift up your heads, O ye gates… and the King of glory shall come in.” (Psalm 24:7, KJV)
“… stand upon thy feet, and I will speak
unto thee…”
(Ezekiel 2:1, KJV)
It’s OK to hold your head high and welcome glory in.

A phrase starting "It's OK to..." is an example of Releasing judgment. For more information, take your free download of my ebooklet.
When something good is not showing up in our lives, it may be because on some level, we have resistance to receiving it. We have taught ourselves to be happy with less, and set up internal systems which perceive 'having more' as a threat.
On this page, the "It's OK to..." statements invite you to open to knowing your spiritual self worth.
Radiance as the fruit of healing and alignment.
“Then shall thy light break forth as the morning…” (Isaiah 58:8, KJV)
“Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.” (Psalm 34:5, NIV)
It’s OK to shine — let your face reflect joy.
Mourning is exchanged for royal identity. Endurance is honoured with eternal reward.
“In that day the Lord Almighty will be a glorious crown,
a beautiful wreath for the remnant of his people.
He will be a spirit of
justice to him who sits in judgment,
a source of strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.”
(Isaiah 28:5-6, NIV)
“…to give unto them beauty for ashes…” (Isaiah 61:3, KJV)
“…he shall receive the crown of life…” (James 1:12, KJV)
It’s OK to endure and be crowned for it.
You are set apart — sacred and sovereign.
“…a chosen lineage, a royal priesthood…” (1 Peter 2:9, CPDV)
It’s OK to belong to something holy.
Your worth precedes time. You are chosen in love. Divine initiative affirms your purpose.
“…he chose us in him before the foundation…” (Ephesians 1:4, CPDV)
“You did not choose me, but I chose you…” (John 15:16, CPDV)
It’s OK to be chosen before you have proved anything.
Dear God,
I am willing to know you chose me for the life I have.
(Or my Self that is one with you chose it.)
The life I have is not random.
I am not random.
I am wanted by you.
And what you are asking of me must be something I can do, because you know my qualities and capabilities.
I am willing to be worth something to you.
I am willing to be needed. AMEN

You are named and called in love.
“…beloved of God, called to be saints…” (Romans 1:7, KJV)
It’s OK to answer the call of love.
Righteousness is your spiritual garment.
“I put on righteousness, and it clothed me…” (Job 29:14, KJV)
It’s OK to wear truth like a robe.
Divine covering affirms your restored identity.
“…clothed me with the garments of salvation…” (Isaiah 61:10, KJV)
It’s OK to be wrapped in grace.
“...the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.” (Philemon 1:6, KJV)
“Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every
way:
in great endurance;
in troubles, hardships and distresses;
in beatings, imprisonments and riots;
in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger;
in purity, understanding, patience and kindness;
in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love;
in truthful speech and in the power of God;
with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left;
through glory and dishonour, bad report and good report;
genuine, yet regarded as impostors;
known, yet regarded as unknown;
dying, and yet we live on;
beaten, and yet not killed;
sorrowful, yet always rejoicing;
poor, yet making many rich;
having nothing, and yet possessing everything.”
(2 Corinthians 6:3, NIV)
In a hard time we can be tempted to say, “What have I done wrong?”
But on the cross, Jesus does not say, “Look what I must’ve done wrong to be crucified.” He chooses to believe that his spirit is worthy of being commended to God.
Jesus on the cross:
“Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” (Luke 23:46, CPDV)
Stephen at his martyrdom:
“Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” (Acts 7:59, KJV)
David’s prayer:
“Into your hands, I commend my spirit. You have redeemed me, O Lord, God of truth.” (Psalm 31:5, CPDV)
Hezekiah says, “look God, I’m worthy of keeping alive.”
