What is Faith for Healing? -
Holding the vision

Faith for health holds a vision in our mind for a certain outcome – the outcome of healing and health.
We might equally have faith for prosperity or for anything else we choose.

The Law of Attraction and Faith

In the modern day, faith for a certain outcome is often called The Law of Attraction.

It is also referred to as manifesting. For example, manifesting health.

I observe that some of the practical psychology techniques of NLP closely echo principles of faith, though please note that the discipline of Neurolinguistic Programming promotes no spiritual beliefs.

All these approaches advise us to fill our minds with images of health past and future.

What will be your trigger for healing?

One way to exercise our faith for healing is to set an intention that a certain action will be the trigger for healing.

The preacher Gloria Copeland says that some people are healed the moment that they walk through the door to her healing conference. They had decided that God would meet them there.

Does faith heal?
Yes it does!

The woman with the issue of blood is the most famous example of someone setting an intention that a certain action will bring healing.

This bible story of the woman with the issue of blood is so important to me.

It tells us that the woman had spent lots of money on doctors to get help for her condition. (I know how that feels!)

No one could help her.

She could have said: Well that is it, I can't be cured. But she didn't. She chose to have the spiritual belief that Jesus could heal her.

Her faith for healing was such that even without Jesus adding his faith to hers, she received health.

If I do "x"... I will be healed

There are many stories of healing in the bible where a person is asked to carry out a simple act which triggers the healing they then experience. For example, the bible story of Naman being asked to bathe in the river.

Some of you are lucky enough to have faith that Jesus can heal you.
If so, what action do you feel guided to take to access Jesus' healing?
For example...

• I feel called to sit in quiet for x minutes a day and ask Jesus for guidance.
• I feel called to read healing scriptures each day.
• I feel guided to listen each day to a CD which raises my faith for healing from Jesus.

If it's not directly through faith in Jesus, what do you believe - if anything - that you can do to receive healing or to reach someone or some treatment which can be a channel for your healing?

It might be something practical -

• If only I could take more frequent breaks.... I know my health would improve.
  
• If only I could stick to a diet.... I know my health would improve.
• If only I could see that particular doctor...I know my health would improve.

See it happening. Say that it will happen.

"If I ... my health will improve"

"If I ... I shall be whole"

Scriptures for healing help us switch fear to faith in a time of illness

Scriptures for healing can help us change our thoughts.

Particularly good in times of fear and illness are those from the Psalms. The authors often start in despair. Then they switch from fear to faith and from criticism to praise.

Say this healing Bible verse as though it was already true.
Get in touch with the joy and gratitude you feel now you are healed.
Get in touch with the joy and gratitude you feel now your healing is manifested.

My personal journey with faith and healing

In the past I was disabled with very severe Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. (I still live with the illness but at a lower level. Phew!)
I used scriptures for healing to raise my faith for three years. I really claimed these scriptures over my life.

Although someone took me to church for some of that time, I found it strange to imagine going into a church in a wheelchair and coming out healed! I couldn't picture it.

I heard about something called the Lightning Process. I set my faith that I would be healed doing the Lightning Process.

On the 3rd day of the Lightning Process, I started walking again.

I don't know how much my dramatic improvement was due to faith for healing, and how much was due the Lightning Process. Either way, I thank God!

* I do self healing practices each day that quieten the clutter of my mind and put me in a state in which I feel more open to God’s guidance and communication.

* I currently feel guided to learn to release the blocks that make it harder for me to take frequent breaks. I believe that with more frequent breaks my body will be better at remembering how to do greater HEALTH.
