Which version of the Bible? Does it matter?

by The Truth
(South Pacific)

The NIV is a corrupted version of the Bible. Don't you people know about corrupt bible versions?

Corrupt as in missing scriptures, added words, misleading passages, Verses not acknowledging Jesus Christ as the Son of God, words used that have ill or no effect, etc!

You had a good thing going until I saw the different bible versions you quoted from!
What’s wrong with the good o'le KJV?

You create confusion with different versions and God is not the Author of confusion.
C'mon this is 2012 and the Saints have been screaming for years about the corrupt word of God being written and distributed around the globe.

Or are you intentionally deceiving people with half truths?
Real truths from the KJV and the bull.... from other versions?!

Do an online comparison of the bibles you're using.
Remember being 99.99% accurate is not enough..........for Gods word is Perfect.

Here I will quote a passage from your "How to Prosper Scriptures"

(Luke 11:13, NIV)
13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

(Luke 11:13, KJV)
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

The NIV reads like this -
God the Father is far off on some distant mountain somewhere pointing his finger at you and nonchalantly saying "If you then, though you are evil,".............

THIS - "Though you are evil" minimizes what God means!

Nonchalant = Seeming to be coolly unconcerned or indifferent

The King James Version says it like this:

" IF ye then, being evil,"
This is God the Father in your face holding nothing back!
He is not screaming but telling you in a Fatherly way, the truth point blankly
that " IF YE THEN BEING EVIL"!
Meaning your whole being is evil! more so you heart being deceitful and desperately wicked!
And being such evil, how much more does his grace and gifts abound!

Do a comparison and be led by the Spirit.

Dear The Truth,
I hadn’t heard the view that the NIV is corrupt, though I know that many favour the KJV.

For myself as a non dualist , all words can be taken differently by different people. I believe that the Bible (or any book) is best read under the guidance of the Spirit, who takes us beyond words.
“Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.”
(Luke 21:33, KJV) God’s words are beyond shapes on a page or noises in the air.

I love that you say to be led by the Spirit. Since you experience the reality of God most powerfully through the KJV you have been led to what you need. Amen to that.

I have a friend, who is triggered by ‘ye olde’ language of the KJV and prefers the Jerusalem Bible. God finds him where he is.

Thank you for the example you gave. Interestingly, I read and received them both in the same way. Thank you for the reminder that I have only to ask for the Holy Spirit and it is given. You have nourished me this afternoon.

I consider that my poems are inspired– meaning of the Spirit. Yet they come through the filter of ‘Katherine’. As such I pray that those who read them receive their wisdom and receive a blessing, and that they let go of anything that is of ‘me’ (rather than through me) and not for them.

In the same way the KJV is a translation from the Greek and as such will have inaccuracies.
Since Jesus spoke in Aramaic, there will also be inaccuracies in the translation of his words.
And even if we were reading in the Greek we would receive the words differently through the filter of different minds.

In fact, this is one of the beauties of the Bible, especially the parables, that according to the changing filter of our current circumstances we can receive new wisdom each time we read the Bible. How fantastic is that? – a book that speaks to us wherever we are in our lives.

I receive your loving intention. Thank you for your prayers.

Katherine

The NIV INFECTION
by: Anonymous

1. By changing "God" to "He" they remove the fact that Jesus is God. This is done in the NASV also.

1 Timothy 3:16 (KJV) And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

1 Timothy 3:16 (NIV) Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.
2. By changing "Christ" to "God" they deny that Jesus is God.

Romans 14:10 (KJV) But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. Romans 14:12 (KJV) So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

Romans 14:10 (NIV) You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat. Romans 14:12 (NIV) So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.
3. They change "Son of God" to "Son of Man", who gave them the right to call Jesus a liar?

John 9:35 (KJV) Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?

John 9:35 (NIV) Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?"
4. In Matthew 9:18, Matthew 20:20, and Mark 5:6 "Worshipped" and "Worshipping" is changed to "knelt down". This removes the due respect of our Saviour.
5. Jesus is eternal, He did not have an origin.

Micah 5:2 (KJV) But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Micah 5:2 (NIV) "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times."
6. Again, Jesus is eternal, He is the beginning and ending.

Revelation 1:8 (KJV) I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Revelation 1:8 (NIV) "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."
7. The NIV omits the first part of the verse, and leaves out the name Jesus, who is called the Son of God by these devils.

The Limited Real Life Value of Labels
by: Terry A. Shuman

Dear Katherine,

You are so exquisitely unconditionally loving and understanding, that words are difficult to formulate to describe the spiritual love that drips from your heart. God has truly blessed your life and you spare no effort whatsoever in helping us to feel and to daily see with our own eyes redemptive and healing power of a God who loves us all, irrespective of how that love is described or conditionally implied by human language(s).

I would never dare intend to speak for you, but I will offer my support of your beliefs, as they so closely seem to align themselves with what I believe to be my own. To wit, I offer the verse below.

May God continue to provide you with wisdom, courage, compassion, unconditional love, and undying faith in His truth, His unconditional love, His compassion, and His promise of eternal life for His beloved human kind.

Best wishes, dear woman, and keep up your wonderful beacon of strength and guidance for those who would seek such God related gifts.

Note from a-spiritual-journey-of-healing.com:

Terry enclosed a copy of a truly wonderful poem on immortality called Facsimile.

Terry's poetry acknowledges the pain of human existences whilst affirming the deeper reality of God’s love.
His work often reminds me of the words of Kahlil Gibran:
"The deeper that sorrow carves into your being,
the more joy you can contain."

Thank you Terry. I feel truly blessed and honoured by your words.
I am sure that, along with others who come here, I value the spiritual companionship you communicate.
“His truth, His unconditional love, His compassion, and His promise of eternal life for His beloved human kind.”
Amen. Amen.

We are One,

Katherine
