Dear Mark,
Thank you for the: u look lovely!
And for your open and honest question about how to stop bad thoughts.

A great many pages on a-spiritual-journey-of-healing.com are designed to help you choose new thoughts which encourage self love and compassion.

As much as possible, I write this spirituality website in a way that means, even whilst you are reading, you are making statements that encourage your mind to open to fresh and more positive outcomes.

As I write the articles, I hold a place for God to speak through me of your beauty and your innocence.
So, just by being here, Mark, you are doing something to help improve your thoughts.

Below I will give some pages that are particular relevant to the question: How do I replace bad thoughts.

The first thing I would say though is that it can help to think of your thoughts a little differently.

Thinking of them as bad thoughts may lead you to feel bad about yourself which is something you need to avoid where possible.:

Instead think of them only as thoughts that are no longer wanted:

Notice them gently. :

Use the release and say:

It's OK to think this thought about...
I love myself when I think this thought about...
Now I choose to replace it with a thought of my choosing.

Meeting a thought with love and acceptance means it has less and less power to upset us. Often, when we do this repeatedly, we naturally drop the thought to be replaced with a more positive thought. Sometimes, we receive an insight that allows us to have peace of mind.

To repeat again, the quickest way to feel positive is not to try to change your thoughts, but to accept yourself complete with all the thoughts you have.

I love the line from A Course In Miracles:

"These are not my real thoughts. My real thoughts are the thoughts I think with God. "

This wonderful acim quote allows us to take our thoughts less seriously. The quote reminds us that we are not our thoughts, we are the thinker of our thoughts. Just knowing this allows us to quieten the racing thoughts we can think of as the bad thoughts.

What helped me to change negative thoughts...
by: Gloria

K, Mark's situation touched me because I've been there. May I please share what helped me?

Mark. I suffered from negative thoughts nd they still manage to sneak up on me.
I sought God's Word for help...looked at it as the "owners manual" written by the Person who designed and made us. I thought of it as going to the best Source. Anyway, these are some key scriptures that helped me.
I pray they do help you. . (from both NKJ and AMPlified versions of the Bible)

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. (Romans 8:1 NKJV)

There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but
full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of
punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is
not yet grown into love’s complete perfection]. (1 John 4:18 AMP)

[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and
theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God;
and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the
obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One), (2 Corinthians 10:5 AMP)

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV)

If any thought makes you feel "bad", reject it...it's not of God.
This includes thoughts that cause
Fear
Guilt
Or come against you as
Condemnation
Accusation

God gave us, designed us to be able to reject these knowing His love and Christ's salvation. You belong to God, you are His no matter what you hear in your head. (don't fall for that one either--that something disqualifies you from being God's)

Dear Georgia,
Thank you so much. These are wonderful scriptures to overcome negative thoughts. I particularly love the 2 Timothy one.
God Bless you,
Katherine

God LOVES you
by: Norma

Dear Mark, I received your page through A Spiritual Journey of Healing.com.

My heart went out to you, so I have to send a comment.

How sad that so many people believe that God punishes us. He doesn't, he loves us beyond our understanding.

If we had a child who was dying and we saw that the child was suffering even more through the attempted cure and begging for it to stop. We'd want the child to be free of that suffering, we can't bear to watch their suffering because we love them.

We can never understand the degree of God's love, because he will never give up on any of his children, however much pain he has to endure in seeing their return to health.(He (does) suffer with us.

When we undergo prolonged periods of illness,
where do we turn? to whom do we call on during
those times?

The fact that we can no longer do the things we're used to is very often the only time we fully turn to God, call out for his help, rest in his understanding.
These are times of spiritual awakening.

He allows these times of illness in our lives to bring us close to him, to help us remember who we are.

NEVER FORGET THAT YOU ARE LOVED. You are his beloved child and even now he is working to bring you through to fullness of health again. Trust in him.

Every Blessing, with love, Norma.

This has been my experience in returning to God.
